Safari as some differences that caused problems for anyone writing a
rich text editor for it.

Here's an interesting article I read a few months ago regarding Safari
2 and how the Yahoo folks managed to get their own YUI rich text
editor widget working with it: http://yuiblog.com/blog/2007/08/13/rte-notes/

Maybe some of that info will be useful in fixing FCK?

I would also recommend posting on the FCK mailing list perhaps.
