Ive read the book and re-read parts of it when I needed to. Like most things, it does require reading and doing. It not enough to just read parts: you'll miss the whole picture. You also need to build a couple of real projects with it to understand how good it is. You and I have no control over that. Some people will learn faster than others, some slower. I think its more important to understand than to be 'fast'.
