Hi!
You could migrate your application to doctrine, but you might also migrate
your entire project to be sf 1.3/1.4 compatible as the 1.4 would be the next
LTS sf version 'till sf 2.0 would be released.
Also, if your project is just a CMS, you might want to use Sympal. Also,
Diem would be a solution. Unfortunatelly, i have not used any of them, as
myself i am new to Doctrine. However, i like Doctrine.
AFAIK, sf 2.0 will bring doctrine 2.0, wich i have heard would be the
default orm for sf.
Have a nice evening!

We're looking to plug a CMS into an older Symfony 1.0 app running
Propel. Right now all content is managed by editing template files,
which is less than ideal for non-technical editors.

I've done an initial review of existing CMS frameworks and it seems
like we have a number of options: From simple (but somewhat inactive)
plugins like sfSimpleCMSPlugin, sfDynamicCMSPlugin, to projects with a
suite of plugins like Steer CMS, to advanced frameworks built on top
of Symfony such as Diem and Apostrophe Now. The more advanced
frameworks would seem to require us to upgrade to the latest version
of Symfony; possibly also switch to Doctrine.

Anyone else have experience plugging in a new CMS to an older Symfony
code base? Recommendations? Is a switch to Doctrine worth the
headache?

Thanks,
Evan
