The 1.4 version will have 3 years of support, so it is definitely still worth learning. 2.0 is just a preview version right now, I believe a lot will change in the time till its release. No manual, no tutorial, no instructions - it's not worth writing them yet. However, you can read a quick tour on http://symfony-reloaded.org/
