The attached patch fixes it. In [1]: var("a b") Out[1]: (a, b) In [2]: e = sqrt(a/b) In [3]: e Out[3]: ⎽⎽⎽ ╱ a ╱ ─ ╲╱ b In [4]: e.subs({a: -2, b:-S(1)/2}) Out[4]: 2 all tests pass, except one limit test.
