Here's a slightly better version. It does the sin/cos -> tan stuff. I'm  
thinking about
making it better in a bunch of ways. One of which is to have it be of the  
form

   sub_in(expr, [(pat1,new1),(pat2,new2),...]),

so that it can find and replace multiple patterns in the same expression.  
Additionally,
it only works on a few cases at the moment. I'm working on expanding it so  
it can
handle much more.
