Status: New Owner: asmeurer Labels: Type-Defect Priority-Medium New issue 1497 by asmeurer: (x+y)/-z does not automatically expand to (-x - y)/z http://code.google.com/p/sympy/issues/detail?id=1497
I am not sure if this was done intentionally, but the following inconsistent output exists: >>> print -(x+y)/z (-x - y)/z >>> print (x+y)/-z -(x + y)/z Normally we wouldn't want to distribute numbers from the denominator, such as >>> print (x+y)/(2*z) # We don't want this (x/2 + y/2)/z but I think there should be an exception for when the coefficient of the denominator is NegativeOne. I have attached a patch that fixes this, but it breaks tests. I don't have time to look into the tests, so unless someone wants to look into this, it will have to stay the way that it is.
