Hi, I am trying to calculate Mass Matrices using sympy. As soon as rotations are involved I always encounter terms like sin(x)**2+cos(x)**2. Unfortunately trigsimp does not recognise them very often. Consider the following basic example: In [1]: from sympy import Symbol, sin, cos, trigsimp In [2]: x = Symbol('x') In [3]: trigsimp(sin(x)**3+cos(x)**2*sin(x)) Out[3]: cos(x)**2*sin(x) + sin(x)**3 If you rewrite the term for sympy, however, it works: In [4]: trigsimp((sin(x)**2+cos(x)**2)*sin(x)) Out[4]: sin(x) To me it seems like collect fails, since the following does not work In [5]: from sympy import collect In [6]: collect(sin(x)**3+cos(x)**2*sin(x), sin(x)) Out[6]: cos(x)**2*sin(x) + sin(x)**3 Regards, Christian Schubert -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
