I tested both, the results are similar (in 15, it's the results for the
whole
branch). The changes to separate() make little difference, though they make
separate() significantly slower. Between b755de... and the HEAD of 1766, it
changes from
8723/7510 0.060 0.000 0.129 0.000 simplify.py:127(separate)
to
7702 0.081 0.000 3.556 0.000 simplify.py:138(separate)
