Is that really an issue?

I came to the conclusion that (a-b).is_negative tests for membership among the negative real numbers. I would not expect an expression that is noncommutative w.r.t. the standard multiplication operator to be a number at all, rather a Matrix or some other object. For what would you need non-commutative multiplication of numbers?
