One thing that makes bisecting hard is the existence of errors in the history that don't allow one's script to run. For example, on my system
330ff3b has an ImportError that exists back until 6a1cdeb; everything is fine for a few commits but then there is an ImportError from 56714e5 back through cb4de8c....and that is a pretty old commit (1296 removed from head). After that another error occurs for commits from 40d8cb3 and older.
