In this branch: http://github.com/jegerjensen/sympy/tree/gsoc_result the Indexed class is more developed.
There is already a shape attribute for the IndexedBase class (which is the new name for the old Indexed), but there is no checking of shape conformance yet. I think Brians _op_priority is the way to go.
