Please consider the following branch which has a minor modification of
limit that gives the correct result. See commit comment for details. I'm
trying to reclone the repo and do a proper pull request, but in the
meantime there is a branch 2084 at github/smichr that can be reviewed. This
is no longer blocked by issue 2096.
