I have found the .func name to be extremely confusing and would definitely recommend renaming it....As I have implemented more things in sympy for the quantum module, the func name makes even less sense. I also don't understand why we don't just use type or isinstance - isinstance is especially useful as it actually tracks subclasses, etc.
