This is embarrassing, and it also somewhat relates to issue 2626, for which I kept the milestone, so I'm leaving the milestone here. But if no one gets around to it, it can be postponed.
Also, I guess it technically would change the syntax, but this is so wrong that I don't even think we should deprecate the old way.
