(1 + x**2)**10000*O(x) hangs, because it tries to expand the polynomial to
merge it into the order term. But this is computationally not necessary.
Only the first term is needed in this case.
In general, if we aren't going to be efficient about it, then we should
prevent it from happening automatically.
