OK, nice again:

    e = (-gamma(k)*gamma(k + 2) + gamma(k + 1)**2)/gamma(k)**2
    assert combsimp(e) == k**2
    assert combsimp(1/e) == 1/k**2
    e = (gamma(x) + gamma(x + 1))/gamma(x)
    assert combsimp(e) == x + 1
    assert combsimp(1/e) == 1/(x + 1)
