I think, this is fixed in PR 1910, e.g.:

In [3]: summation(z**n, (n, 1, oo))
Out[3]:
⎧   z
⎪ ──────   for │z│ < 1
⎪ -z + 1
⎪
⎪  ∞
⎪ ___
⎨ ╲
⎪  ╲    n
⎪  ╱   z    otherwise
⎪ ╱
