That would solve this trivial case but won't help when I have more than
two boundaries (as in the cases I'm actually trying to use).

Why is it that this works, but the assumptions I passed above do not?
Is there code somewhere that's figuring out Min(a,b) from the
assumptions of sign, but which doesn't know how to do so from assumed
relations between a and b? If so where in the code would I find this to
improve on it?
