I don't have time to go into detail, but we have a guide at https://github.com/sympy/sympy/wiki/development-workflow. GitHub also has guides. If you need more help, just ask on our mailing list, IRC, or here.

By the way, just so you know, when you make the pull request, you will also need to fix the tests (and if any of the behavior that you changed is not already tested, you need to add tests for it). You can run all the tests with ./bin/test and ./bin/doctest, and just the printing tests with ./bin/test print.
