OK, so I think I'm getting confused by what you want to do now (which
sounds stupid), and what you envision it being in the future (which I'm not
convinced yet is the correct way to do it).
Instead of breaking backwards compatibility, if we want to do something
like that, why don't we make Mul the one that people call to multiply
things together, and rename the class to MulObject or something like that.
Am I safe in saying that this issue is a duplicate of issue 2738?
