It doesn't look like a very complicated problem, but I can't fix it. I'm afraid not to break anything. It seems that the current code is chosen to work with complex numbers only. But solving this kind of equation is what I expected from SymPy and there are cases for which I really need that functionality. If that will bring more attention, can I offer a small (like $50) bounty for fixing the issue?
