I think in t2 I eventually called it "symbolic" since that's how you've referred to it elsewhere. But everything is symbolic so that's probably not good. Algebraic, again, is not that descriptive since it's algebraic either way, isn't it? So perhaps force is the better option since you are forcing a logcombine (regardless of assumptions) or forcing a denesting regardless of assumptions.

Other options: relaxed, liberal, generous, flex. Do any of those sound better?
