Now in master:

In [2]: eq1=1 + 2*y/b - (e + x)**2/a
In [3]: eq3=1 + 2*y/d - (x - e)**2/c
In [4]: %time u = solve([eq1,eq3],[x,y])
CPU times: user 0.47 s, sys: 0.00 s, total: 0.47 s
Wall time: 0.48 s
