Hello Andy, I'm working to submit a proposal on Sparse Matrices for this GSoC. I wanted some help regarding the project. Would be very grateful if you could help me.
According to my calculations, I'd take roughly 8 weeks to implement a full SMatrix class and rewriting Matrix class to add GMPY support. It includes all essential algorithms and Ax=B solving using Gaussian Elimination and Method of Least Squares. I will also write a set of Special Types of Matrix Classes like DiagonalMatrix, IdentityMatrix, etc. The list of features that can be added to Linear Algebra is a big one. I plan to implement such extra features if any time is left, like Abstract Matrices and Block Matrices. I'm wondering if I can also do any of the factorizations like LU or QR for sparse matrices too over the summer. I attach a draft of the application. I anticipate your comments.
