Something I would expect a CAS to do if it supports derivatives is to be able to generate different difference equations, e.g. Derivative(f(x), x).as_cfd() -> f(x[i+1]) - f(x[i-1]))/(x[i+1] - x[i-1]). Do we have anything like that? Anyone doing FD simulations would benefit from such capabilities, I would think.
