I just double-checked..made a sample project in Delphi5 with your code as the base (assigned it to a button, on a form - that is all - removed the writeln stuff).. HTTPMethod returned true and it went on to loadfromstream etc..

I'm not sure why it might return false for you, but luckily the function isn't very complicated and it wouldn't be difficult to trace the problem with a bit of debugging. Good luck!
