I found some modems, what needs some delay after port initialization and before first AT command. Try it, maybe it helps you too. (BTW: I have this problem on old Siemens with unofficial serial cable. On official it workling great. Difference between this two cables are properly wired control signals.) -- Lukas Gebauer.
