hi
at work we have firewall and http proxy.
pop and smtp are blocked.
i thought mayb if i will connect using the proxy it will work,
i put the address and port and username and password and got the following

when the port for the mailbox is 110 (no ssl)
i got an error from the firewall saying that ssl requests are not valid using
this port and usually it should be 443
though again, i didnt ask for any ssl

when i changed the mailbox port to 443, just to check, i got the following
error:
'HTTP/1.1 407 Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires
authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy filter is denied.
 )'
'Via: 1.1 FIREWALL'
'Proxy-Authenticate: Negotiate'
'Proxy-Authenticate: Kerberos'
'Proxy-Authenticate: NTLM'
'Connection: close'
'Proxy-Connection: close'
'Pragma: no-cache'
'Cache-Control: no-cache'
'Content-Type: text/html'
'Content-Length: 723 '

i did give it a user and password of the proxy.
according to my sysadmin, proxy wont help me bcoz the firewall blocks this
ports anyway

so as an addition to the above question regarding the 2 weird errors i got from
the proxy,
is it relevant to add proxy support to pop/smtp, assuming what he said about
the firewall is correct?

thanks
