hi after some more tests i managed to narrow down the problem: this is a string: "new cards from עמוס(2)" (it contains hebrew characters) when doing UTF8Encode(<str above>) in D2007 (str above is a widestring) the result is "new cards from ׳¢׳'#$9E'׳•׳¡(2)" which is ok
when doing the same in D2009, the result is the same as the string itself as if no conversion was done. please advice --
