Hi,
I've spent the last few days trying implementing SNMPv3 Encryption (Privacy)
in Synapse. All the functionality is complete, but I just can't get it to
work in practice.
Could somebody from the Synapse team, or anybody else that feels they can
help, please take a look at the code and see if they can see the poblem(s)?
I have been using WireShark to trace the packets against the MG-Soft SNMPv3
server (details here: http://www.mg-soft.si/snmpv3.html). Encrypted requests
fail with either no response from the server or with an authentication
failure. I believe both errors occur because the pdu is not encrypted
correctly.
You can find the modified snmpsend.pas file here:
http://helion-studios.com/files/snmpsend.pas. Most of the changes I've made
are enclosed in {$IFDEF USE_ENCRYPTION}...{ENDIF}. You will need to download
the DCPCrypt library (http://www.cityinthesky.co.uk/cryptography.html) to
get it to compile.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Cheers,
Paul
