I've started writing a press release. Once we have a starting point we
can pass it to the PR committee and get them to polish and release it.

Please add, edit, give quotes etc.

APACHE SYNAPSE PROJECT RELEASES 0.91 AND BECOMES PART OF APACHE WS PROJECT

Open Source SOA Framework becomes part of Apache and releases software.

For Immediate Release --

Contact:

http://www.apache.org/ -- January XX, 2007 -- The Apache Group today
announced that the Apache Synapse project had graduated from the Incubator
to become a full-fledged Apache initiative as part of the Web Services project.
In addition, the Apache Synapse team has released a new version - 0.91
- of the project.
Apache Synapse is a simple XML and Web Services management and
integration broker that
can form the basis of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and
Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).

Apache Synapse is an offshoot of the highly successful Apache Axis and
Axis2 projects,
and it offers the ability to mediate, manage and transform XML
messages between different
applications.

"We are very pleased to have become a full member of the Apache community", said
Paul Fremantle, VP of Technology at WSO2 and a committer on the project. "Apache
Synapse is a great piece of technology, but what this really indicates
is that we
have become a successful party of the Apache Open Source community."

OPEN SOURCE SOA FRAMEWORK

Apache Synapse aims to help organizations build Service Oriented
Architectures based on
Open Source and Open Standards. Using a simple configuration file,
Synapse allows users to
add a whole new level of control to their existing integration links,
and create new links
between applications, without rewriting existing code.

The Apache Synapse 0.91 release offers a wide range of mediation
capabilities, including
support for a number of open standards, including XML, XSLT, XPath,
SOAP, HTTP, JMS, Web Services Security (WSSec),
Web Services Reliable Messaging (WSRM), SMTP and Web Services
Addressing. Synapse supports a
number of useful functions out-of-the-box without programming, but it
also can be extended
using popular programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Ruby, and Groovy.

Synapse can be used in a number of situations, including bridging
between SOAP and non-SOAP system,
offloading support for WSRM and WSSecurity, logging and monitoring
interactions, content-based routing and more.
Synapse can also form the core runtime of an SOA governance solution.
The team has recently added support for
remote registries making it even easier to integrate Synapse into a
wider SOA solution.
