Hi Henrik, Try the latest build @ http://people.apache.org/%7Eruwan/synapse-1.1-qa-b3/and there is a sample numbered 310 which illustrates the behavior of aggregate and iterate mediators (i.e. start synapse with the "-sample 310" option).
Type the "ant stockquote -Dtrpurl= http://localhost:8080/soap/SplitAggregateProxy -Ditr=4" on the sample client to see iteration and aggregation working (you need the SimpleStockQuoteService to be deployed on the sample axis2 server) I will provide the documentation on these mediators ASAP.
