I don't know what the mozsync script is because I've just been lurking and haven't run my own environment yet.
If it's written in Python it could be that you just need to run it using the python from your virtual environment. Given that you pass the paster on the command line, though, I'm surprised, as it seems like that would get executed as a new process. Again, I'd have to look at the mozsync script. Aside: you should use bin/gunicorn --paste <.ini file> instead of paster as Gunicorn will handle SIGHUP reloads for hot code upgrades better that way.
