If you have an email, password, and recovery key, your previous account is
"Old Sync". It sounds like you just created a new Firefox Account, which is
a new system.

Last I checked you can still sign in to an old account:

1. Create a new profile.
2. Set services.sync.username to any value (in about:config). You'll need
to right-click, choose New, String.
3. Prefs > Sync > Set up Firefox Sync > I have an account

Follow the steps from there.

Once you're done, and everything is synced back down, you can sign out of
your old Sync account and sign in to your new Firefox Account with that
profile:
