Hi folks, I just removed Legacy Sync (Sync 1.1) support from Firefox for Android 46. Mozilla's hosted infrastructure has been unavailable for months [1], so any surviving Firefox for Android consumers of Mozilla's service have been silently broken for a long time. This change therefore only impacts self-hosting Sync 1.1 users. Such users may instead self-host the new Sync 1.5 infrastructure.
Technically, Bug 1220904 [2] messages that these accounts are going away in Firefox for Android 45, and then Bug 1220906 [3] actually removes the support in Firefox for Android 46. This will be in the release notes for 46.
