I am in the process of converting my RSS system
to use Atom. However, it seems that the search
capability of RSS using the <textinput> is not
present in Atom. Arguably, the textinput of RSS
is not the best defined, but I did find a nice
use for it in RSS.

In the Atom spec, Sec 3.3 FeedURI, it talks
about implementing searching using multiple
link tags that implement different search results.
However, this does not allow submission of
keywords to search for (at least that I can
determine). This is more of a "browsing" paradigm.

I did read through the Atom e-mail archive and
did not find a clear resolution to searching.

My application of searching is quite interesting...
I developed an RSS system to manage project
reporting. Each time a project report (or other
project document) is completed, it becomes an
entry in a feed. What I am doing with the search
is interesting. I could enter a keyword such as
"prototyping". Our aggregator then scans all
RSS URLs and submits a search request (using
textinput). The search results are another RSS
feed. All of the search feeds are then reformatted
as a single search result feed. Thus, the
aggregator can then find the status of all
projects doing prototyping.

I am not clear how to do an equivalent operation
in Atom.
