Sure, there are a couple ways on Syndic8 to find feeds that may be related to a topic of interest to you.
One way is via the Tags link at the top. I would guess that the vast majority of feeds in the Syndic8 database have no tags, but the feeds that do may be more likely to be active. Another way is to just search for words via the Feeds link at the top. Scroll to the bottom and enter a term of interest in the Match box, then click the Filter button. You can get more results by clicking the "Click for Options" button, checking the Status checkbox, and setting Status to "(Any Status)".
