Oops.  Looks like I broke something, but I can't see why.  I've tried
building with g++-3.4 (GCC) 3.4.6 (Debian 3.4.6-5) on Linux but the
compile error doesn't happen there.

Is that the first error?  Line 384 is the last line I changed, and I
made a few similar changes earlier in the file.  If there are earlier
errors, could you show the first one please?

I use GNU Emacs, with M-x rgrep, M-x compile, valgrind, etc.
