Ulrik: what is your desired solution to this bug? I have added a function
to disable access to the animate editing button (gray it out) when in bline
and other modes. Is it appropriate to do that instead of just hiding the
timebar? How do you think this should work? Which modes should show/hide,
which should just disable/gray it out? Please reply ASAP, otherwise this
bug may be closed unfixed.

Probably the best solution to this bug is to just disable it instead of
hiding it.

It will disappear whenever you are in a context in which changing the
animate 
mode would not be appropriate, such as when you are using the Bline tool.
Try 
pressing "escape" to automatically jump back to the "normal tool", and the

animation widgets should reappear.
