Category: None Group: None Status: Closed Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: dooglus (dooglus) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: synfig quits without saving too easily Initial Comment: modify a document try to quit synfig "you've modified stuff - want to save?" yes hit cancel in the fileselector dialog synfig quits (without saving, or re-confirming) I said "yes" I want to save my work, then messed up in the file selector. Shouldn't it at least ask again before quitting and losing my work? How do other apps deal with this? It doesn't feel right the way it is now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: dooglus (dooglus) Date: 2007-09-22 00:53 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1546005 Originator: YES Does r732 make it how it is in other apps? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Genete (genete) Date: 2007-09-21 11:35 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1874777 Originator: NO The way others programs work is this: 0) Make a dirty document (modified and not saved) 1) Send a close signal by pressing quit command for example. 2) Prompt a qustion dialog "Stuff has been modified, want to save?" options: YES, NO, CANCEL 3) If press CANCEL you go back to the document to continue being in a dirty mode and can continue working with it. 4) If press NO the document is closed and changes discarded. 5) If press YES then prompt for document to save (if it have no saved name yet) 5.1) Show a file selector dialog and wait for user response: 5.2) If user press SAVE then save it with that name (obviously) 5.3) If user press CANCEL it usually means that, for the moment, the user don't want to save the file BUT WANT continue working with it. So this CANCEL signal brings the state of step 3) Carlos ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: dooglus (dooglus) Date: 2007-09-21 09:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1546005 Originator: YES Carlos, I don't quite understand what you said. Do you mean that saying "yes" then "cancel" should take you back to the "do you want to save?" question? If so, that's what it does now, since svn r724. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: dooglus (dooglus) Date: 2007-09-20 23:08 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1546005 Originator: YES Fixed in r723/724 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Genete (genete) Date: 2007-09-19 22:59 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1874777 Originator: NO If you press "cancel" at the file selector then it should bring up you to the same situation than if you press "cancel" to the question: "Would you save your changes to filename.sif?" It should be corrected.
