The reason is basically that ffmpeg development practices aren't great, but are getting better. Part of that process means they have to move things around, change API/ABI to be the "right way" and so on. Unfortunately that isn't good for people who like stability (like packages that depend on ffmpeg and the distros that package their stuff) I put a new patch up to cope with some of these changes, inspired by how VLC have coped with the changes. -- bye, pabs http://synfig.org/User:PaulWise
