Hello,
I think we can wait until after gsoc projects are announced and after the

Agreed.
Also we need to define what we want from SFC membership.

True.
First from the SFC web:

So any of this is a requirement to join the SFC. Just optional terms that
we can later discuss, and maybe only transfer them after joining, if we
dicide then so.
I don't think we need to transfer the copyright to the SFC.
Synfig is not a registered trademark so no worries there.
About the domain name:
The owner and every-year payer is still darco, if he doesn't want to do it
any more we could transfer it to the SFC, or to any other Synfig admin.
(Still, the SFC would either pay it themselves or derive that person money
to pay for it).
About the infrastructure:
The web and forum are hosted in Zelgadis' server so maybe we can use
donations to pay him something too. (Maybe in donations to the morevna
project :P)
The wiki is hosted in Tuxfamily.
The repository and bug tracker are hosted in Sourceforge.
I'd also remark that the SFC joining has no turn back, after joining, we
can part ways whenever we want, but the SFC can legally only transfer the
assets to another non-profit organization (no individuals).
But I don't know what would happen if we don't transfer anything and just
use them as financial back up, and then we part ways.
I can't see why we would want to part ways anyway, but still.
Also, if we join the SFC, they suggest we destinate a percentage (discussed
during sign up) of our donations to them (but they are also non-profit) as
payment for their services.
As I see it, joining the SFC doesn't need to change anything in our usual
procedures but in financial terms, where they would just take over the
donations administration and would transfer whoever money to whatever we
need (including even hiring some developer to improve some specific
aspect). See: http://sfconservancy.org/members/services/
Saludos,
Diego.
