Hi,
Today I've encontered a new issue in synfig, relative to missing proper
color management.
The thing is:
-I draw some parts for a cut-out scene in Krita and use 16bit linear scRGB
colorspace for better results.
-The exported pngs are in this 16bit scRGB colorspace
-When I import them in synfig, the colors are not properly imported
-If first I convert the exported file to sRGB (still 16bit) in Krita, the
result file is imported correctly in Synfig.
Which makes me understand currently synfig assumes sRGB colorspace for all
external/bitmap input, and import it to its native linear HDRI colorspace…
Is that right?
If so, I think that's not very good as we would have better color accuracy
if we could import files already in linear colorspace, according to
respective color profiles…
Also, some questions about the rendered output files from synfig:
-Which colorspace is used for the render files?
-Is it possible/How to select higher precision than 8bit, like exporting in
linear 16bit png, or 32bit float exr ?
In my opinion, this is an important issue to fix to have synfig used
seriously in big-scaled projects involving import/export from other
softwares and/or HDRI color precision.
What do you think about this?
Cheers
Tim
