It helps if you know exactly what command was run that caused the problem...

Well, simplest way is just to run

pkgchk

and see what it comes up with. That should at least give you some idea of
what's wrong.

Fixing it is another matter. The installation CDs aren't necessarily
going to help,
as you really need the (patched) files. Whenever I've had to recover
from this sort
of accident I've taken a 2nd similar system and then patched it up to the same
level and then copied the files across.
