I had the desktop Mgr installed.... I would like to try what you just 
said though... I could try installing system 7 on the zip disk that I 
used as server hard disk on the plus and use system picker to go back 
to system 6/AS2.

This problem could be caused by 2 things: either a disturbence caused 
by a ethernet to localtalk converter in my network or the fact that 
10.1 may not be able to share its files over Appletalk. Someone from 
the vintage mac list said he could connect to a OS X 10.0 machinse 
using a SE/30 running 7.1, OT 1.1.2 and Appleshare client 3.7.4.

Gonna try a connection over ethernet without the localtalk to 
ethernet converter.
