Friends - I've looked over the FAQ and all the usual places, but I'm still stumped.
I have a Mac Plus with external HD (an Apple 80SC). I'm trying to install Sys 6.0.8 on it. I downloaded the files from Apple on a PowerMac 7600 and mounted the disk images (the 7600 is the only Mac I have that has Internet access). I copied the contents of the images to folders, and then switched the 7600 over from Ethernet to a twisted-pair net I run to connect the old, non-Ethernet Macs. I found some old 800k disks at the surplus shop, so I formatted them on the Plus (running off the Utilities disk) to avoid the desktop problems between Sys 6 and later OS. I then copied the installer files to a disk and named it System Tools. But when I start the installer tools, it checks for the disks needed and stops, saying I have the wrong System Tools disk. I've tried restarting from the System Tools disk (no problem there) and the installer correctly IDs the machine as Plus, but won't get past the first step of the install. Any hints or advice?
