I have a few questions about my current System 6 setup: (6.0.8) I installed 8 4Mb 30pin SIMM yesterday, and installed Mode32 so I could recognize the extra RAM. But upon startup, the Mode32 icon is crossed out and I only get 8Mbs in the Finder. Any ideas?
I tried installing Optima as well, but the unit locks up at the startup screen with 32bit addressing enabled.I did ResEdit the finder to allow Optima to work with 6.0.8. When I try to run MacPaint, even with 8Mbs of RAM, it says there is not enough room for it to load. Any ideas? Do I have Multifinder turned on and not know it, maybe? Just thought of that. I'll have to check when I get home. I don't think I do, but you never know. I installed this version of 6 a few years back and haven't used the hard drive since then. Any other things to look for? And here is a wierd one...any chance that AIM version 2.5 will run in 6? My wife has a book club that meets on AIM, an I'd like to join in with her via a shared dialup connection. I could have a partition running system 7 specifically for that purpose, but if I can avoid that and stick with 6 I'd be a happy man. Thanks in advance, I look forward to your advice!
