Yes, indeed! I have one running inside an old SE/30 right now, and it's terrific. It basically acts as my classic mac file server; I store all those wonderful tidbits from various classic mac sites. It's amazing how much 4GB will hold, when the programs are the itsy-bitsy ones from the System 6 days... As to specific instructions on how to divide a drive into multiple partitions, it varies from program to program. Apple's own HD SC Setup will do it, but many folks find the partitioning process mysterious with that particular tool (but it's free). I remember struggling a little bit with it the first time around, and I thought I was fairly experienced at the time. Other HD formatters include FWB Toolkit, which has many features, is more intuitive, but is not free. Someone else mentioned Gamba's site, where you can find many other formatters. The URL is home.earthlink.net/~gamba2 (just look for the links to HD stuff). But the basics are these: When you first setup a drive from zero, you will at some point have to partition the drive. The default is to use the entire drive as one massive partition, but that's not the only choice. You can carve it up into almost as many pieces as you'd like, and not all of the partitions have to be MacOS partitions (e.g., you could have one for Linux, another for system 7, etc.). Aside from specifying the total number of partitions, you will have options for specifying the size of each partition. Set the latter to 1.95GB (1.99 would probably work, but I'm conservative), then complete the rest of the setup (driver installation, initialization, etc.). If you get stuck, write back. Someone here will definitely be able to help out. Good luck! --Cheers, Tom -- Prof. Thomas H.
