Rob,

Yeah - it was me.

Usually I get labeled or classified as a tar-baby but
this is an exception, except that my inbox has become
stuffed with rembrances of the past and dialogues
which seem to have come out of the past, a past that
has not died out.

Unlike older cars (50 years old for example) which
require much maintenance and expense just to keep
running, old computers are like refrigerators which
require almost no maintenance, not even a cleaning.

How would you like to drive a car that has a top speed
of 70 miles an hour, that will go from about 3 MPH to
to 70 MPH in high gear with slow acceleration,** runs
forever and you never have to put gas into it, change
the oil, replace the tires or brakes etc. + there are
no maintenance costs or inconveniences except that
very rarely, some component might have to be replaced.
This is as close as I can imagine (quickly) in making
a comparison comparing of an ancient car to an old Mac
to show that these type of comparisons are not
appropriate.

** Such as a large Packard in the 1930s.
